まだまだだ~

First off, today's So-ran bushi performance went really well!  I also had the honor to join Dr. Carter at Coppin State University in the morning and hear him speak on the topic of peace.  I wish I could transcribe his words here - they were extremely valuable and action-provoking.  Listening to him speak with so much respect for Dr. Ikeda, Gandhi, and Dr. King went straight to the heart.  At the later event at MICA primarily for SGI members, he essentially called on us to help realize President Ikeda's dream of world peace through human revolution as his true disciples (for those of you who don't know, "human revolution" is a term SGI Nichiren Buddhist's use to describe the process of inner transformation of an individual, which allows us to bring forth this innate enlightened , or "happy," state of life - it identifies the root of human suffering as fundamental negative functions in our life).  He had so much heart and so much passion - it was truly moving.

I also had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Carter one-on-one, and he really straightened me up.  He enjoyed the fact that I graduated from Soka University of America, and when I told him I was graduating law school, he asked me: "Did you report it to him?" I was utterly confused at that time, and ignorantly responded, "replied to...?"  He responded, "To Dr. Ikeda, of course."  I felt so embarrassed and awe at the same time, on so many levels.  For one, this Christian Baptist minister was essentially telling me to not to forget my vow as a Buddhist.  The experience also helped me to realize that I hadn't truly made my relationship with President Ikeda my own, and that I had a long way to go in my own practice.

Today, I ate 納豆ご飯 when I got back to my place around 11pm.\

Judicial clerk interview tomorrow at 9am.  Gotta get up and chant abundant daimoku :)
