I'm in the market for a car - well, sort of. I'm strapped for money, but I hope to be driving a new car within a month's time. Labor day specials are coming up, though, and it's difficult to to pass up some of these sales. Especially now, when the specials are in place AND its the end of the month (need to meet monthly quotas). Who knows, maybe I'll be in a civic within a week.
It's hard not to like the Civic, but people have been convincing me that the Elantra is good. In fact, I've only heard goods things about it. Except, I don't really like the way it looks. The civic is not beautiful, but it's the typical car, and I love it because ... well, because I have one. The gas mileage is good, and it's a Honda.
Other than cars, I started work this week, but its been more of a training period more than anything. I've been taught stuff, though I hardly retained anything I learned over the past two days. I spent most of my today cleaning out my office. There is still a lot of clutter that the past law clerk left, and it's really a pain trying to organize everything. It doesn't help that I work in a historic building that is falling apart (it's one of the oldest courthouses in America... the water fountains don't work and the insulation is horrible) and that my judge isn't there to tell me what I can and cannot throw out. He apparently doesn't want anything to be thrown away, which is a problem for me. My office makes it look like the digital age never came.
All this re-organizing is making me tired. Took care of errands in the city after work and went straight to the community center to shoot an "Office" skit.
hyundai is doing well. though i did drive a kia for a rental and it was crap. so whatever you do don' get a kia. hyundai may be better but definitely compare the elantra and civic with test drives. are you getting a hybrid? a lot of cars these days get hybrid mileage without the price tag, which is convenient. I saw this article on yahoo that got me excited for innovations in japanese cars. at least gas is getting cheaper due to our economic stagnation.
ReplyDeletegood luck at work man. it's exciting to know your the fruits of your efforts will finally be recognized. im sure your judge will love you and everyone else that works with you. a lot of people respect you and i'm sure you will win everyone's respect at your workplace quick. that's definitely a unique trait of yours. i admire that.
jia you.
i love that you titled this post 'kuruma.' My grandma says that and I make fun of her for that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cliff. That means a lot! I went to the dealer today as well as spoke with some people over the course of the past few days and I think I'm going to go with the accord. The civic didn't do so hot this year (or next year, since it's the 2012 model), but the accord is going strong.
ReplyDeleteKuruma! Don't make fun of your grandmother...
